Ministry to Senior Adults

Lee O. Galbraith, 83, of Urbana died at 7:12 p.m. Monday (Aug. 29, 2011) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 2, at the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, Urbana, the Rev. Rich Gregory officiating. 
Mr. Galbraith was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Akin, the son of Otis B. and Lela Knight Galbraith. He married Anna Lee Foster on July 18, 1948, in Frankfort; she died Nov. 21, 1995. He then married Evelyn B. Smith on Aug. 2, 1997, in Urbana. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, David L. Galbraith of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Nancy J. Galbraith of Indianapolis; two step-children, George Smith of Granite City and Sandi Simmons of Atlanta, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and a step daughter, Joni Walters of Granite City.
Mr. Galbraith was a recreational therapist at the Illiana (VA) Medical Center, Danville, retiring in 1982. He was the senior adult minister at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, Urbana.
He was a member of the Illinois Baptist State Association working with the Senior Adult Conferences and retreats. He had a Christian radio ministry in Danville.
He was a fast-pitch softball pitcher, playing until age 55. He enjoyed gardening, flowers and walking 3 miles a day; he enjoyed golfing, preaching, teaching and doing services at the nursing home and retirement centers.
Pastor Lee will be greatly missed.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministry.
